DHL is constructing a sustainable CityHub for parcel delivery in Eindhoven. With the symbolic placement of a green foundation pile, construction has officially begun. The CityHub will serve as the base for parcel delivery in and around Eindhoven’s city center and the districts of Woensel, Acht, and Tongelre on the north side of the city. The facility is scheduled to open in the summer of 2026. It is located at the De Hurk industrial park, with direct access to the Eindhoven Ring Road (A2/N2).
More than 120 employees will soon be sorting and delivering 12,000 to 14,000 parcels per day. This is already done largely with electric delivery vans, and by the time the new facility opens, the entire fleet will be fully fossil‑free.
Robert Strijk, Alderman for mobility, city center, university & vocational education, and the Design District for the municipality of Eindhoven:
“It's great to see a logistics company like DHL investing in sustainable logistics solutions in our city. Together, we are making logistics in Eindhoven smarter and more sustainable.”
Michel van Meurs, Operations Director for the Southeast region at DHL eCommerce:
“The new CityHub Eindhoven strengthens our operational capacity in the region and supports a future‑ready, sustainable logistics service. It also provides a safe and high‑quality working environment for our employees.”
The CityHub is being built according to the BREEAM Excellent 2020 sustainability standard. The facility will be gas‑free and powered by electricity generated from its own rooftop solar panels. The short distances to households in the region, optimized routes, high loading efficiency, and electric delivery vans all enhance sustainability and reduce traffic movements. These routes also supply DHL ServicePoints and parcel lockers. Picking up or dropping off parcels at these out‑of‑home locations is considered even more sustainable—especially when customers walk or bike to them. A wide green strip with habitats for insects and other wildlife will surround the CityHub.
CityHub Eindhoven is the twentieth of 27 new CityHubs being built within DHL’s Dutch network, which consists of 132 local locations in total. The eastern part of the city is served by the recently opened DHL CityHub in Helmond. For sending and receiving parcels, customers can also make use of the DHL parcel locker next to the Philips Stadium.
