DHL is the largest logistics service provider in the world. While we are incredibly proud of this, it also comes with great responsibility. Everything we do is about connecting people and moving society forward. In order to achieve this, we’re constantly improving our sustainability in the broadest sense of the word. We’re proud of that, too.
Our commitment
We value the environment and are taking various measures to reduce our CO₂e emissions. To achieve this, we are implementing several intermediate steps. For example, around 2,500 vans are already electric, and we use HVO100 (a sustainable fossil-free fuel produced from waste, residual oils, and fats) where necessary. The first electric trucks are already on the road, and we encourage our consumers to make use of smart delivery options. Furthermore, we are building our future sorting centers and hubs according to the strictest BREEAM sustainability standards, ensuring that new locations operate without gas and can generate their own solar energy. We already have several locations that meet these standards. These sites help us to further electrify our fleet now and in the future. Ready for the future!

Transparency and compliance are two key words in the work we do. Being open keeps us focused on our own actions as well as on the commitments we have to our customers and our coworkers.

Our biggest ambition is to bring people together and improve their lives. We accomplish this through the pillars of GoHelp and GoTeach. We are also committed to reducing carbon emissions.
Reducing carbon emissions
We care about the environment, which is why we take various measures to reduce our carbon emissions. We build modern sorting centers and CityHubs to high sustainability standards (BREEAM), from which we deliver parcels without driving unnecessary kilometres. These buildings are gas-free and equipped with solar panels, and our fleet travels from those locations to consumers using electric vehicles or those that run on HVO100 fuel, a sustainable fossil-free fuel produced from waste, residual oils and fats.
GoTeach
The best way to build a good future is by increasing opportunities for young people. At DHL eCommerce, we do this through our DHL Cares foundation. For example, our employees teach at Excelsior, Willem II, and FC Utrecht football foundations. We’re also raising awareness of road safety: Our couriers work together with Veilig Verkeer Nederland to teach schoolchildren about blind spots.
GoHelp
If there’s a disaster anywhere in the world, our extremely dense and close-knit network can be a great help. The United Nations and other organizations really value our network and use it to provide emergency relief. With our logistics expertise and support, we give relief operations an extra boost. Through our DHL Cares Foundation, we support charities and social initiatives in the Benelux.

Through the pillars of GoHelp and GoTeach, our foundation DHL Cares supports charities and social initiatives within the Benelux. Additionally, we are also making strides in CO₂e reduction. Not only with funding but also with advice, resources, and the dedication of our people. By combining our efforts with those of our customers and partners, we help advance society. Furthermore, we encourage colleagues to make a difference in the community by contributing to one of our volunteer projects.
